The GM Diet

I've been contemplating keeping this blog strictly nail polish based or adding personal posts. Since this is a pretty huge step for me, I needed to share it with someone somewhere.

I've always struggled with my weight. As a Hungarian girl, food is a major aspect of our culture and lives. Fried, buttery, oily, salty, good food... I know that it's up to me to have "willpower" (what a concept) and practice portion control, but sometimes, we simply slip through the cracks and develop bad habits. Since being unemployed and out of school, I got out of my routine. I've been sleeping late, eating poorly, eating at inappropriate times, and not limiting myself on eating junk. After not being able to fit into some of my favourite clothing items, and realizing that I have two family weddings, and all the events that go with weddings, to attend this year, something had to be done.

I did a lot of research online on different diet plans. I attempted a few, but they were all quite complicated and required a lot of work and eating things that I usually wouldn't even look at. Believe it or not, the diet that I just started was found on Pinterest. You can find a lot of stuff on there, but a diet?! The diet that I have selected is called "The GM Diet."

The GM Diet was formulated by the people at GM to ensure that their employees were happy and healthy. The GM Diet is a 7 day program, in which you can lose anywhere from 10-17 pounds. Each day is broken down into foods that you can and cannot eat, along with each day's water intake. The water intake is crucial to the GM diet because it helps your metabolism adjust to the changes in your eating habits. This diet appealed most to me because it was so simple. It doesn't call for any ridiculous, or expensive, health food products. Everything they tell you to eat is available at your local grocery store.

The best breakdown I found of the diet, which was the original post I found through Pinterest, is here.

The official GM Diet website, filled with additional information and answers to any questions you may have, can be found here.

As I just started the diet this morning, I cannot tell you how much weight I've lost in the first week. I plan on repeating the diet two or three times over, depending on the weight loss in the first week. I am hopeful that this will be a great first step in a healthier and happier me. Since being at my heaviest, I know that I do not want to be back in this place.

I hope that this can inspire other men and women everywhere to take charge of their lives and health. We only get one life, so we should take care of ourselves in order to enjoy it!

Best of luck to all others out there struggling with weight-related, health-related, and body image issues. We can all do this together!

xoxo Hillary

Favourite Nail Polishes

I feel like I need to reveal to the nail polish world my favourite polishes. The ones that made me fall in love with polish and the ones I continuously go back to. It is quite hard to narrow down my favourites, SO in no particular order...

1. Revlon Top Speed in "Stormy"

2. Nicole by OPI "My Lifesaver"

3. Essie "Tart Deco"

4. Essie "Bordeaux"

 5. China Glaze "Shocking Pink"

6. OPI "Steady as She Rose"

7. Esssie "Mint Candy Apple"

8. Milani Nail Lacquer "Red To Tango"

9. Milani Nail Lacquer "Ruby Jewels"

10. Wet N Wild "Tickled Pink"

As any true polish addict would say, these pictures really don't do the polishes justice. I highly recommend each and every one of these shades. They're always among my go-to polishes. These are just the ones I could think of off the top of my head, meaning they're clearly always at the top of my list, but I do have several other polishes in the same category. With these polishes, I never feel like I made the wrong choice and I usually get tons of compliments, which is always a nice thing.

I would love to know your favourite or the no brainer go-to polishes in your collection!

Tata for now!
